Cayard-led Katusha Wins RC44 San Diego Regatta

Russia's Katusha, led by America's Cup veteran Paul Cayard, has won the Oracle RC44 Cup San Diego regatta.

Katusha finished second in the first two races on Sunday and was able to clinch the title with an eighth-place finish in the final race.

Oracle Racing, led by Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison and four-time America's Cup winner Russell Coutts, was second. Great Britain's Team Aqua was third.

Eleven 44-foot carbon fiber boats, each weighing less than 8,000 pounds and hauling an eight-person crew, competed in the Oracle RC44 from Wednesday to Sunday in the San Diego Bay.

It was the first major international regatta in San Diego since the 1995 America's Cup.
