Cathedral Catholic Top Ranked

With the crack of the bat this season, the baseball team at Cathedral Catholic High School is quickly proving why they're nationally ranked; and also top ranked in San Diego County.

"There's a little bit of pressure. I think the talent we have this year is certainly no secret," said coach Gary Remiker.

There's no question that center fielder Matt Moynihan is their leader.

"We know we're good," boasted Moynihan.  "It's a great group of athletes out there, we've just go to come out and do our thing every day."

For Moynihan that means keep hitting over .400, and use his speed on the bases and in the outfield.  He's also aware pro scouts are watching, and he's realistic about where his game has to improve.

"Probably the power aspect right now," added Moynihan.

Matt has already signed with USD, and will have a decision to make this summer. College baseball, or the pros?

"I try not to think about it too much," said Moynihan. "It's going to be cool if I get drafted in the first couple of rounds in June, but right now it's just about winning for Cathedral Catholic High School."

He's off to a great start, and so are the Dons.
