Braves Blank Padres 6-0

Padres bats fell silent in Atlanta as they were shutout for the 10th time this season.

Atlanta starter Tim Hudson (12-4) pitched a gem. He combined with three relievers on a five hit shutout of the Padres.

Friars starter Clayton Richard (9-12) left the game after six plus innings trailing 3-0. His replacement, Brad Boxberger promptly gave up a three run homer to Martin Prado that put the game out of reach.

In the eighth Padres rookie Tom Layne made his major league debut. The 27-year old, just called up from Double-A San Antonio, made the most of his chance. He struck out the side on 16 pitches.

The Braves held on to win it 6-0. The two teams play game three of their four game series Wednesday evening.
