Aztecs Win Great Alaska Shootout

Dominate Hampton in Title Game

The Aztecs went north to Alaska, and they're coming home with a championship trophy.

San Diego State dominated Hampton, just like the rest of the rather weak field in the Great Alaska Shootout, and won the championship game Saturday night in Anchorage 76-47.   Kyle Spain was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.  He had 17 points, while guard DJ Gay led the Aztecs with 20. The game wasn't really competitive,  the Aztecs jumped out to an early lead and never trailed.  They held a 37-16 advantage at halftime.

They'll carry a four game winning streak into another road game Wednesday night at Northern Colorado.  The Aztecs, now five and one, will be back home a week from Saturday for the city rivalry game with the University of San Diego.
