Aztecs Reach MWC Championship Game

San Diego State has already won the Mountain West Conference West Division

San Diego State's football team has three regular season games remaining on the 2016 schedule but they already know they will be playing at least five more times.

In addition to a bowl game the 8-1 Aztecs have already clinched a spot in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game. SDSU's 55-0 blowout over Hawaii coupled with Nevada losing to New Mexico on Saturday gave the Aztecs a spot in the title game for the second straight year.

Rocky Long's group does not know who, where or exactly when they will play, however. The MWC Mountain division is yet to be determined. The team with the highest College Football Playoff Selection Committee ranking will get to host the affair.

Wyoming currently leads the Mountain Division but Boise State is the only MWC team in the CFP rankings. The Broncos suffered their only loss of the year to the Cowpokes but Wyoming still has to play the Aztecs so that side of the conference is still wide open.

We do know the game will be held on Saturday, December 3, at either 5:00, 4:45 or 4:30 p.m. and air on either ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2, respectively. That's a little confusing. The bottom line here is the Aztecs have a shot at winning back-to-back conference titles, possibly doing it at home.
