Aztecs Fall Short Again At BYU

For the Aztecs of San Diego State, winning at Brigham Young could be called mission impossible. The Aztecs are now 3-27 against BYU in Provo, Utah, after losing Saturday night 77-71.

Lee Cummard, and Jonathan Tavernari scored 16 points apiece to lead the Cougars.  The duo combined to make seven of eleven three pointers.  Lorenzo Wade led the Aztecs, and all scorers with 18 points.

After falling behind early in the first half, Wade's three point field goal from the corner made it a nine point game at the half.   The Aztecs cut BYU's lead to four with just over one minute to go, when Tavernari nailed a three pointer to put the game away.

San Diego State is now 13-5 overall, three and two in the Mountain West Conference.  BYU has the same conference mark, but the Cougars are 15-4 for the season.

The Aztecs are back in San Diego to host TCU on Wednesday night.
