Aztecs Face BYU in MWC Semifinals

The Aztec men’s basketball team faces 25th-ranked and top-seeded Brigham Young in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Championships in Las Vegas Friday.

San Diego State took a big step toward punching a ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 71-57 victory at UNLV in the quarterfinals on Thursday, SDSU announced. The Aztecs took the lead for good just 108 seconds into the contest and led by as many as 19 points before settling for the 14-point win.

Senior Lorrenzo Wade posted his second double-double of the season, recording a team-high 20 points and adding a game-high 10 rebounds and four assists, according to SDSU Athletics. Senior Kyle Spain chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists and freshman Tim Shelton came off the bench to score 10 points, two rebounds and two assists. Ryan Amoroso also contributed 10 points to the cause as well.
