Aztecs Drop Two Title Games To Utes

It was a first for San Diego State with both their men's and women's basketball teams playing for Mountain West Conference titles. The Aztecs didn't take advantage of the opportunity, and dropped a pair of games to Utah in Las Vegas.

Luke Nevill scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half for Utah, as they held on to edge the Aztecs 52-50. San Diego had a chance to win or tie, until Shaun Green stole the ball from Richie Williams at the buzzer. It was Williams hitting a pair of three pointers that brought the Aztecs back from a five point deficit in the last minute.

San Diego State finishes 23-9, and is expected to get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament on Sunday.  The same can be said for the Aztec women, after they lost to Utah 63-58.  Jene Morris led State with 22 points.  The women won't find out their fate until Monday.
