Amarista Lifts Padres

The Padres scored two runs in the first inning, then added three more in the sixth and held on for a 5-4 win over the Phillies 5-4 on Tuesday night at Petco Park.

Alexi Amraista was a triple short of the cycle. He doubled in the second, singled in the fourth, then hit a go-ahead two run homer in the sixth inning. Amarista's chance to be the first Padre ever to hit for the cycle ended when he grounded out to shortstop in the bottom of the eighth.

Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy threw six innings to get his 11th win of the season.
