All-Star Catcher Named AA Manager

Former All-Star catcher Terry Kennedy was promoted to manager of the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate in San Antonio on Monday.

Kennedy managed the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the Golden Baseball League in 2005, earning manager of the year honors in the league's inaugural season.   He spent six seasons as a minor league manager with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos and St. Louis Cardinals organizations.

He earned Baseball America and Pacific Coast League manager of the year honors in 1998 with Triple-A Iowa.

Orv Franchuk replaces Kennedy as hitting coach with San Antonio.
