ASC San Diego announced they’re joining the National Premier Soccer League Founders Cup.

ASC San Diego, part of Albion SC, announced they’re joining the National Premier Soccer League Founders Cup.

The NPSL is a fourth tier soccer league affiliated with the United States Adult Soccer Association and is part of the U.S. Open Cup that includes Major League Soccer.

Albion SC CEO & Executive Director Noah Gins said in a statement that ASC San Diego’s goal is to give San Diego the soccer experience the city deserves and that the club is “focused on building a world-class team on and off the field, upgrading our fan experience, and working toward a soccer-specific stadium in San Diego that rivals the best in the country.”

ASC San Diego, a division of Albion SC, is one of eleven founding members of the new league including Cal FC, California United Strikers FC, Chattanooga FC, Detroit City FC, FC Arizona, Miami FC, Miami United FC, Milwaukee Torrent, New York Cosmos, and the Oakland Roots. The NPSL is also developing plans to expand the new league and add additional clubs.

NPSL Chairman Joe Barone said in a statement that his league is “very excited to bring a new brand of community-based soccer to the U.S. market.”

The NPSL Founders Cup will run from August to November next year and expand to a full league schedule in the fall of 2020.
