Chargers RB Tomlinson out against Steelers

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who sat out the entire second half of the team's wild card win over the Colts with a groin injury, was inactive for Sunday's 35-24 loss to the Steelers in an AFC Divisional game.

Chargers head coach Norv Turner stated earlier in the week that it was obvious to the coaching staff that Tomlinson could not play the way he usually does due to the injury. He recorded just 25 yards on five rushes with a touchdown in the win over Indianapolis.

Darren Sproles stepped into Tomlinson's spot but was held to 15 yards on 11 carries, but managed five catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Tight end Antonio Gates (ankle) was active for the game, as is kicker Nate Kaeding, who missed practice on Thursday and Friday with a sprained ankle suffered in Wednesday's practice.

Gates caught five balls for 59 yards, while Kaeding hit all three extra point tries and one field goal.
