Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Gyno Pomare scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the San Diego Toreros to a 55-50 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos in a West Coast Conference showdown at the Leavey Center.
Rob Jones added 17 points for San Diego (10-7, 2-0 WCC).
John Bryant netted 10 points and collected 12 boards for Santa Clara (7-11, 0-2), while Marc Trasolini and Perry Petty chipped in 10 points apiece in the setback.
The Broncos limited San Diego to a pathetic 32.0 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a 23-17 advantage.
The Toreros stormed back in the second stanza, shooting 44.0 percent, while also netting 15-of-16 foul shots, en route to the five-point win.
