School Board Shocker

San Diego Unified School board member Katherine Nakamura trails behind two challengers as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. If Nakamura fails to finish as one of the two top contenders, she won’t even get to compete in November.

This is a surprising result in a race because Nakamura is an incumbent running in a race where incumbents normally win.

Kevin Beiser

Kevin Beiser and Steve Rosen earned more votes than Nakamura in Tuesday’s voting.

Beiser received 39 percent of the vote or 9,747 votes,

Rosen received 31 percent of the vote with 7,808 votes and Nakamura received 31 percent of the vote with 7,749 votes.
