Early voting begins Monday for San Diego's special election to replace disgraced mayor Bob Filner.
In August, the former mayor stepped down after a former employee filed a civil suit alleging sexual harassment and several women accused him of inappropriate behavior.
Filner pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor charges last week and turned himself in to authorities Saturday so he could be booked and released.
Governor Jerry Brown endorsed mayoral candidate Nathan Fletcher for mayor saying the two have worked together on issues and he believes Fletcher is a "solid leader."
Earlier Monday, Councilmember David Alvarez received an endorsement by the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education President John Lee Evans along with other educators
and parents.
Monday evening the Sierra Club will be holding a mayoral candidate forum with Alvarez, Fletcher and Mike Aguirre. Mayoral candidate and Councilmember Kevin Faulconer submitted his answers in writing. The forum will discuss environmental issues in San Diego.
The election is set for November 19.

Voters can cast their ballot at the San Diego County Registrar’s Office in Kearny Mesa between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mail-in ballots will also be available.
