With over 6,000 votes tallied so far, as of 6 a.m. National City’s mayoral race is leaning toward Ron Morrison.
Morrison gained 55 percent of the vote (3,442 votes) and is followed by is Alejandra Sotelo-Solis with 35 percent, or 2,30 votes.
Just as the polls opened, Darryl Gorham, one of the four candidates running, dropped out of the race in the hopes of getting voters to back Morrison as opposed to Sotelo-Solis.
