City Council Seat Earned by Costumed Candidate

It's not quite the power many of us would choose to have as a super hero, but Kristin Gaspar will soon be sitting on a seat of the Encinitas city council.

Gaspar, seen here in costume while campaigning with her husband Paul, earned 29 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election.

Her showing out performed both incumbents Teresa Barth and Mayor Dan Dalager as well as fellow challenger Tony Kranz.

One local blogger was less than impressed with Gaspar, calling her "Nerd Girl."

Whatever your thoughts on the getup, it worked. The chief financial officer for a local physical therapy company has a new gig.
