Wizards Reign at Fanciful Halloween Boutique

The 2017 spread at Roger's Gardens in Corona del Mar is themed to magic.

A CLASSIC HALLOWEEN SHOP? Those never arrive with just one flavor, vibe, or look. There are the costume shops, the make-up stores, the wig emporia, the places that sell yard props, and a host of other haunting, merchandise-laden destinations that cover all manner of macabre goods. But only a few shops are experiences unto themselves due to how fancifully, and thematically, they are realized. Roger's Gardens in Corona del Mar has become a more-sweet (and less-scary) stroll-through over the last several autumns, with Halloween mavens making a date to check out the fresh items, as well as the general layout and design of the boutique. And that boutique is now open for 2017, so if you adore wizards, and magic, and pumpkins, and owls, and mysterious gewgaws, too, you'll want to make for...

"MAGIC & MAYHEM," which is the name of this year's atmospheric experience. The boutique is sizable, so much so that you'll come across particular themed areas as you wander through, like The Owl Post General Store, Wykeham's Wizarding Supplies, The Weezer's Joke Emporium, and Morgan & Murkes Apothecary. Each area is considered to be "a curated store," and spending several minutes in each, happily lost among the enchanted, for-sale goods, might leave you feeling as though you've been tapped by some powerful wand.

THE COST TO VISIT? It's a boutique, at an established gardens-and-more store, so it is free to see. If you're out around the area, and have a hankering for some Halloween-style sights, but of the gentler, jovial assortment, spend a quarter hour calling upon this established seasonal happening. And, yes, you might find a pretty goblet or skeleton decoration that you might want to buy, so, before you leave home, make sure to wave your own wand over your wallet and confirm a form of payment is within.
