Winter WINEland Shines in Northern Sonoma County

The vintage-packed weekend has been around for more than a quarter century.

HOW TO ADD SPARKLE... to January, when the days are still on the short side, the nights begin around late afternoon, and the promise of summer seems not six months away, but at least a year or more? Heading out, to a beautiful area, for an event that has summer spirit at its heart, while the word "winter" appears in its name, seems like one remedy. And it so happens that, for over a quarter century, a wintertime summer-spirited spectacular has given oenophiles the chance to get the grape-growing maestros of Northern Sonoma County. That chance is coming around again, on...

SATURDAY, JAN. 19 AND SUNDAY, JAN. 20, giving those who adore exceptional libations the opportunity to "... taste current vintages, multiple varietals grown in Sonoma County," as well as the opportunity to "even try a few verticals!" The name? Why it's Winter WINEland, of course. Library wines may be around for the trying, too, as well as new releases. Perhaps pick up a suggestion or two from the winemakers, as they'll be around to say hello, to talk shop, to answer questions, and, just maybe, discuss their own favorites or current hankerings. On the participant list? DeLoach Vineyards, Geyser Peak Winery, Carol Shelton Wines, and Harvest Moon Estate and Winery.

GET YOUR TICKET NOW, and purchase one for your designated driver, too. Keep in mind that Winter WINEland is fully 21-and-over, and that the hours each day are 11 a.m. to 4 in the afternoon. Meaning you can be at your local hotel, or well in the direction of home, with your designated driver at the wheel, just about the time that the wintry dark starts to set in for the evening. Good thing you will have had to chance to savor a dose of summery, vineyard-vivacious fun for a few hours.
