Will Ferrell Now Pitching Scorpion Beer

Some people use their celebrity to make terrible, terrible films that allow them to amass riches for their kids. Others leverage their celebrity to enjoy themselves. Firmly ensconced in that second camp is Will Ferrell, who's just rolled out a new beer commercial.

Ferrell's next film is "Casa de mi Padre," a Spanish-language send-up of telenovelas, that co-stars Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal. As part of the film's promotional blitz, they've just released a faux commercial for the non-existent Scorpion Beer starring Ferrell and Efren Ramirez, a spot that evokes nothing so much as memories of an old time Marlboro ad. And the slogan will no doubt have parents groups pulling out their hair: "When you're Having More Than Twelve."

Beer commercials have become something of a hobby for Ferrell, who late last year made a slew of regional ads for Old Milwaukee, and during Sunday's Super Bowl, viewers in Nebraska were treated to another.

We don't know what Ferrell's up to, and frankly, we don't care. The guy is rich, and has the juice to get the greenlight for just about anything he wants, and rather than playing it safe or cashing in, he's keeping it weird. High five, sir.
