Alleged Victims of a Sexual Predator Sue After He Wins Lottery

Two people who say they were victimized by a registered sex offender when they were children two decades ago have filed a lawsuit seeking damages for pain and suffering after he won $3 million in a Florida Lottery jackpot.

NBC affiliate WESH in Orlando reports that the lawsuit was filed in Orange County, Florida, last week by the alleged victims of Timothy Poole, who were ages 9 and 5 at the time of the crime.

Poole, 43, purchased the winning ticket earlier this month at a convenience store in Mount Dora, near Orlando.

Poole was arrested in 1999 on a charge of sexual battery involving a 9-year-old boy, according to reports.

Poole has denied the allegations but pleaded guilty to attempted sexual battery and was sentenced to time served in jail.

His probation was revoked in 2003 after he failed to show up for counseling sessions.

In 2010, the Florida Legislature eliminated a statute of limitations for victims of sexual battery younger than 16.
