Tornado Strikes Louisiana Town, One Killed

A perfect storm of high winds and rain swept through southern Louisiana this afternoon, killing a 21-year-old woman and causing massive damage to the surrounding area. As many as 60 people were wounded, and many homes—up to 100—were damaged in the massive gusts, AccuWeather.com reports. Debris littered the streets of Rayne, La., and many power lines had fallen. A fear of natural gas leaks has prompted authorities to vacate the area until it could be verified they were contained. Rain violently battered residents as far out as Baton Rouge, and much of the south, including Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee have been issued flash flood warnings.
