A PUMPKIN PATCH? That's pretty much guaranteed to have plenty of impressive gourdage, come the fall, if the plot has been tended to with love and thoroughly cared for, all summer long. But there are other places where pumpkin sightings are strong, as are happenings related to the orange-fabulous fruit. One such spot is a sumptuous stay-over, one known for lots of luxe details and elegant offerings. And, come October, there are pumpkin-oriented delights, too, thanks to the area's famous Art and Pumpkin Festival. We are, of course, singing the praises of pretty Half Moon Bay, and of the Ritz-Carlton, which pays homage to the stem-rocking superstar each October.
VISITING THE PUMPKIN FESTIVAL? Then you'll find fall-like happenings at the resort, from a Pumpkin Afternoon Tea, each Monday through Thursday, to an "Instagram-Worthy Photo Display." Artist Christie Smith has created "four hand-painted pumpkin art pieces" that are on view at the resort, while a pumpkin macaroon baking class will don the aprons on Oct. 4. If you decide you'd like to take a seat for the Pumpkin Afternoon Tea, and surely you'd like to, if you like pumpkin-spicy scones and cranberry eggnog tartlets (foretelling another holiday soon to come), do make reservations. The best part? Ten dollars from every reservation will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside.
