Tablets, Smartphones Changing TV Viewing Habits

Tablet owners do it distracted. Smartphone owners are the same.

A new study by the Nielsen Co. says about 40 percent of smartphone and tablet owners in America use the devices while watvching television.

Is it possible that even television has become too boring to escape our daily lives? Or has Steve Jobs already changed the television without ever touching the device?

About two thirds of those who responded to the survey -- both males and females -- admitted they had an email addiction, which was the No. 1 distration from television watching.

Most of the surveys other findings found that habits tend to break along gender lines. Half of the women surveyed said they browsed social networks while watching television.

While men said 44 percent of them checked sports websites.
