Sunken S. Korean Ferry Was Overloaded, Prosecutors Say

The ferry that sank in South Korea, likely killing hundreds, was carrying more than three times its recommended cargo, said prosecutors Wednesday, NBC News reported. The ship was lugging some 3,600 tons of cargo when it left port –– more than double the weight of the ship itself. Prosecutors said they're investigating whether the ship's operator bribed government inspectors for a clean safety certificate.
