‘SNL': Actress Emma Thompson Hosts as Jonas Brothers Perform

The actress hosted the show for the first time, while the Jonas Brothers performed for their second time, almost a decade after they first appeared

“Saturday Night Live” opened this week with cast member Kyle Mooney reprising his role as MSNBC commentator Chuck Todd, as he hosted several Republican politicians and quizzed them on their support for President Trump.

Todd does his best to ask the guests what it would take for them to stop supporting President Trump.

British actress Emma Thompson hosted the show for her first time. The “Love Actually” star gave a small shoutout to the longest serving member of the “SNL” cast, Kenan Thompson, jokingly saying “It’s incredible to be working alongside my beloved husband of 16 years, Kenan Thompson.” Thompson responded by blowing a kiss.

Thompson was joined by “SNL” legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who helped her teach “mother speak 101,” translating typical motherly sayings for the audience.

On this week’s “Weekend Update,” hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost broke down the recent New York Times report that shows President Trump posted losses of over $1 billion as a businessman during the 1980’s and 90’s.

Che went on to explain how Trump’s ongoing trade feud with China will impact his everyday life, joking “China makes everything I need to survive. Shoes, hoodies, fake Louis Vuitton…”

The musical guest was the Jonas Brothers, jamming out to one of their new songs, "Cool," before breaking out a throwback jam in "Burnin' Up."
