Small Plane Crash Near Truckee Tahoe Airport Leaves 2 Dead

Before the crash, the pilot reported engine problems and attempted to return to the airport, according to the FAA

A small plane crashed near the Truckee Tahoe Airport Tuesday morning, leaving two people dead and another person critically injured, according to officials.

Three people in total were on the single-engine Navion-B aircraft when it crashed just before 7:40 a.m near the Northstar Golf Course along Highway 267, which connects Interstate 80 with Lake Tahoe, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. 

After taking off from the airport around 7:30 a.m., the pilot reported engine problems and later crashed roughly one mile southeast of the airport, according to fire officials. 

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
