Schwarzenegger to Leno: No One Cares if You Smoke a Joint

But ballot proposal went too far, he says

The Terminator won't come after you for smoking a joint.

Hollywood tough guy turned California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told Jay Leno lighting up a doobie just isn't a big deal.

"No one cares if you smoke a joint or not," he said on Monday's "Tonight Show" on NBC.

He's done it himself, and it was even captured on film when he was a bodybuilder.

"I also inhaled -- unlike some people claim," Schwarzenegger once joked.

Schwarzenegger signed a law five weeks ago that made possession of up to an ounce of marijuana the equivalent of a traffic infraction. It carries a penalty of no more than a $100 fine and no arrest or criminal record. But as for that ballot initiative Golde State voters rejected, the one that would have made pot puffing totally legal for adults, Schwarzenegger said that went too far.
