Protesting? Try the ‘I'm Getting Arrested' Android App

Protesting the government when the police suddenly show up? Now protestors about to be arrested can inform loved ones and their lawyers with one button.

The new Android application, called "I'm Getting Arrested!" was designed by Jason van Anden for a friend's girlfriend protesting at Occupy Wall Street, according to the New York Daily News.

The free app available at the Android Market lets users prewrite a text message to a list of recipients. Then as the police get closer, users can hit one button and let friends, family and even a lawyer know they're about to be taken into police custody. "A must have for protesting," wrote a user named Jose. "There are more than 1,000 ways to get arrested where I live [so] this will be very useful," LunaticNeko added. So far, about 10,000 users have download the app.

The app is helpful especially when protesting turns ugly with pepper spray or tear gas. In the confusion, it's good to know that one button can let everyone you care about know where to bail you out.
