A dangerous police pursuit that traveled through the Baldwin Hills area and moved east through downtown Los Angeles ended in the city of Commerce Saturday.
The plates did not match the vehicle, which led to the pursuit being initiated, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Los Angeles police said the driver was ignoring red lights and driving on the wrong side of the street.
Gil Leyvas and Newschopper4 Bravo were over the chase around 5:05 p.m.
Newschopper4 Bravo observed items being thrown from the minivan in the downtown LA area. A short time later, the driver nearly hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk near the LA Convention Center. Then, the driver continued east.
The minivan moved into the city of Commerce around 5:20 p.m., with the driver sticking to surface streets.
Police appeared to be backing away from the vehicle and monitoring the minivan from a distance. A short time later, a man and woman exited the red minivan and attempted to flee authorities on foot.
At one point, the man and woman entered a white truck that was unlocked, but apparently, no keys were inside, so the duo continued their attempted escape on foot.

The pair ran onto train tracks nearby and were eventually taken into custody, but the man involved in the pursuit managed to light up one last cigarette before being put in handcuffs.
