Pistorius Asked Pal to “Take the Rap” for Gun Incident: Boxer

A testimony from a friend of Oscar Pistorius revealed that the Olympian asked another friend to take the blame after a pistol was accidentally fired in a restaurant weeks before he fatally shot his girlfriend. The testimony by boxer Kevin Lerena relates to the firearms charges is Pistorius' court case, where he is on trial for girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp's shooting death last year. Lerena said the restaurant incident happened when he and Pistorius and two other friends were in a restaurant in Johannesburg in January 2013. A friend named Darren Fresco passed the gun to Pistorius under the table, where a fired bullet grazed Lerner's toe and put a hole on the ground. Lerner said Pistorius asked Fresco to say he was responsible for the gunshot because "there's too much media hype" around him.
