Paul McCartney: The β€œStick's” One Last Hoorah

Candlestick Park is closing its doors for good but not before one last hoorah.

Sir Paul McCartney on Thursday night performed at the San Francisco stadium as part of his "Out There" tour. It was the last public event at the stadium.

The 14.5-acre park served as the home for the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers for decades.

Built in 1960, the stadium expanded in 1969 to seat 62,000 people during football games and 59,000 people during baseball games. An additional 8,000 seats were added later.

The park will be demolished to make way for a 1.1 million-square-foot development project.

Prior to the event, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency announced special Muni service for the concert at Candlestick Park.

The special service included lines from the Balboa Park BART station to Candlestick Park, the Embarcadero station to Gilman Avenue and Third Street and Gilman Avenue and Third Street to Candlestick Park.
