Flight Inbound to MIA Hits Severe Turbulence, Passengers, Flight Attendant Injured: MDFR

American Airlines Flight 1410 was arriving in Miami from New York with 159 people on board when it hit severe turbulence.

Several passengers and a flight attendant had to be treated for injuries they sustained after their airplane encountered severe turbulence while flying into Miami International Airport.

All passengers on board American Airlines Flight 1410 have now either headed home or have caught their connecting flights in Miami.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the flight was arriving at MIA from New York's LaGuardia Airport Friday morning with 159 people on board when it hit severe turbulence.

The flight landed and was taken to Terminal D.

MDFR said four people were injured. Three passengers received minor injuries and were treated on the scene. The fourth, a flight attendant, suffered a broken nose and was transported to an area hospital.

According to reports, the passengers were evaluated by paramedics after their arrival and were released. The flight attendant being treated should be just fine.

American Airlines released the following statement:

"American Airlines Flight 1410 from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Miami briefly encountered severe turbulence approximately 40 minutes prior to landing. The seatbelt sign was on at the time. The flight landed without incident and safely taxied to the gate. Five passengers were evaluated by paramedics on arrival and were released. One flight attendant was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation."

The Boeing 737 aircraft departed LaGuardia at 8:08 a.m. and arrived at MIA at 11:30 a.m., according to the statement.
