On Day of Old Candidates and Old Props, a Fresh Idea

Californians are facing a list of candidates and ballot propositions that may seem old and familiar to them. But there are a few new ideas out there.

One came across my desk this morning. Timothy Vande Krol, a recent graduate of Cal Poly Pomona, has an interesting idea to introduce parties into the initiative process. His proposal would create an alternative way to qualify measures that does not rely on signature gathering efforts that can cost between $2 million and $3 million.

The full proposal is here.
