Officials: Pizza Shop Owner Tried to Recruit Teen for Prostitution

The owner of a Wayland, Massachusetts, pizza parlor has been charged with trying to recruit a 19-year-old woman into prostitution.

Prosecutors say 65-year-old Michael Giakoumakis told the woman, a former employee of Liberty Pizza, she could make $300 to $450 for six hours of work if she had sex with married men for money.

Liberty Pizza owner Michael Giakoumakis is charged with trying to recruit a teenage ex-employee into prostitution.

The MetroWest Daily News reports that police had the woman wear an audio device so detectives could listen to a meeting she had with Giakoumakis in which he described the "job."

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday to soliciting sex for a fee. Bail was set at $500 and he was ordered to surrender his passport.

His lawyer called him a "fixture" in the community who is not a flight risk.
