Obama Defends Bergdahl Prisoner Swap, Military Promises Probe

President Barack Obama on Tuesday expressed confidence that the U.S. could go after Taliban militants released in exchange for U.S. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl if they pose a threat to U.S. security. The Army is preparing a full, high-level investigation into Bergdahl's disappearance and his personal conduct to determine whether criminal charges are warranted. Some lawmakers have accused the Obama administration of failing to give Congress advance notice of the exchange, but the president on Tuesday dismissed that criticism saying Congress had been consulted "for some time" about the possible swap.
