Angeleno designer Jenni Kayne has built a small empire around her unique brand of California cool...and those perpetually sold out pointy-toe d'Orsay flats (we're on at least three waiting lists). This season, the designer found inspiration in nautical prep—familiar territory for Kayne, whose boarding school blazers and crisp trousers we've come to depend on season after season. Only this time she has added a quirky global twist.

To toughen up her yacht club looks, Kayne juxtaposed preppy basics like this two-tone pullover in candy pink and bright orange against exotic textured leather. We love this croc-stamped A-line skirt, which features a single slit at the front.

We would be lost during the awkward spring transition without Kayne's short suits. This season, she updated the look with a modern criss-crossed "skort" and matching blazer in lightweight tweed.

We'll take one of each, please: this sheer patterned tee, crisp white trouser and tweedy overcoat with a long, exaggerated lapel are at the top of our spring '14 wishlist.

Another work-ready staple, this tailored cross-front dress in white-flecked tweed has a '60s bombshell appeal. Pair with a bouncy platinum 'do and blue eyeshadow for maximum "Mad Men" effect.

Kayne's sleek twisty-print jumpsuit may look minimal, but close inspection reveals three handy pockets and a flattering drop waist.

A subtle flared trouser already seems to be trending for spring '14, and Kayne offered her take on the silhouette with this Bianca Jagger-worthy white jumpsuit, which was finished with brass button accents and a swooping V-neck.

Maybe we just have back-to-school fever, but there was something youthful about this sporty mesh pullover in black and white stripes paired with black shorts.

You can't throw a raw chia seed cracker in Los Angeles without hitting someone draped in cotton tie-dye. Kayne isn't immune to the boho beach trend: here, a simple romper with white tie-dye stripes.

We're suckers for a black bootleg trouser and clean white frock coat. Kayne added a black and white stripe tee to the minimalist look. Fashion followers—this is probably a look you can recreate with pieces already hanging in your closet.
