Protests Spread to Syria; Rock Yemen, Saudi Arabia

Protests continue to rock the Arab world as thousands of protesters march on the southern city of Deraa in Syria, where some government buildings are reportedly ablaze. Government forces fired tear gas and sealed off the city yesterday when more than 10,000 people called for revolution at the funerals of two protesters. Crowds also gathered in Yemen after snipers shot down 52 demonstrators in the capital, Sanaa, on Friday. President Ali Abdullah Saleh has fired his entire cabinet amid the furor. He called for a national day of mourning before deploying tanks to disperse protesters in the coastal city of Aden, reportedly killing four more and wounding at least a dozen. Several dozen protesters also gathered in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, where witnesses said around 15 relatives of jailed Saudis were arrested outside the interior ministry.
