Protest Organizers Condemn London Violence

In the wake of a massive protest in central London on Saturday, national trade union leaders have condemned the violent actions of a small group of demonstrators who injured at least 31 police officers. Police say demonstrators threw paint bombs, ammonia, and bricks at them during the protest, which about 400,000 people attended. The majority of protesters were peaceful. Public resentment toward government austerity measures has risen in recent weeks. Some radical organizations have taken to the Internet and stated their intention to occupy popular parts of London.
