London Protesters Clash With Police

Police say demonstrators threw paint bombs and ammonia at them during a massive budget protest in central London on Saturday. The Guardian reported that up to 400,000 people are expected to join the demonstration, the majority of which has been civil. Public resentment has risen in recent weeks with the government's recent austerity measures that have cut many public services during a time of high unemployment. The incident has stoked police fears that the situation could become violent. Some radical organizations have taken to the internet and stated their intention to occupy popular parts of London like Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square, while union leaders say organized strikes are not far off.
