Snakes On A Plane? Almost, in Indonesia

Indonesian airport authorities reportedly detained two Kuwaiti men who tried to smuggle 40 pythons on a flight to Dubai. The would-be snake-runners were busted when X-rays revealed that their bags were full of the animals, which were heavily sedated. When questioned, they told investigators that they were planning to sell the pythons to snake enthusiasts in the United Arab Emirates. If they are found guilty of attempted smuggling, AP reports, they could go to prison for up to seven years. The snakes are currently under quarantine at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The UAE is a common destination for the illegal animal trade. In December, a squirrel, two parrots, and four snakes made it from Jakarta to Abu Dhabi. Cue Samuel L. Jackson: airport officials have had enough.
