For heartthrob Robert Pattinson, love bites.

The hunky "Twilight" star who plays the sexy blood-sucking vamp Edward Cullin in the wildly popular film series said he may elicit screams from legions of female fans - but he isn't the object of women's affections.

"Girls scream out for Edward, not Robert," Pattinson told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I still can't get a date."

The 23-year old who has been rumored to be dating co-star Kristen Stewart -- Bella in the series -- said he still gets lots of attention from fans.

"Like yesterday, I was having lunch down the road," he said. "We were in this place for a couple of hours and suddenly there was like 400 people outside on the street. It was just so nuts and it's like that all the time now."

Pattinson said he thinks the hype will simmer down once the sequel "New Moon" comes out.

"I'm not the lead in the second film. Taylor [Lautner] is," he said. "I appear in Bella's dreams. So I'm in it but the focus is not on me. ... I didn't have to deal with any of the bull---- of the first one. I don't have to hold the movie or worry about the fans. I think I did it better without all those pressures."
