Rihanna Breaks Her Silence: “It Was Humiliating”

Songstress opens up for the first time since attack

The battered songstress is finally breaking her silence.

R&B princess Rihanna told Glamour magazine in her first interview since a violent Grammy night fight nine months ago with then-boyfriend Chris Brown that left her bloody and bruised that she was "humiliated" by the abuse -- and that she wants to use her fame to help other struggling women.

"I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears," the 21-year-old told the magazine in an interview honoring Rihanna as the publication's Woman of the Year. "That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day."

"It was humiliating: this is not a photo you would show to anybody," she said. "I felt completely taken advantage of. i felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it's my life."

Rihanna also said she wanted to use her struggle to help other women in similar situations.

"Teenage girls can't tell their parents that their boyfriend beats them up...It's one of the things we hide because it's embarrassing," she said.

"I want to give as much insight as I can to young women because I feel like I represent a voice that isn't really heard. Now I can help speak for those women," she said.

The singer is also set to open up in her first televised interview about the fight on "Good Morning America."

"This happened to me ... It can be happen to anyone," the songstress told "GMA," according to People.com

"He was definitely my first big love," she said of Brown.

Brown, who pleaded guilty to beating Rihanna, posted a link to a video montage of he and the pop princess in happier days on his Twitter page last week with the text: "IM SORRY YALL. JUST HAD TO POST IT."

Brown, 20, said last month he regretted his behavior during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97.

"I regret every second of it," Brown said. "I'm human. Of course you're gonna have your thoughts and opinions. I'm not gonna say they're wrong. But at the end of the day, it's not right to judge someone. People make mistakes all the time."

Brown was given five years probation and 180 days of community labor. He was slapped with a restraining order for five years.
