Plans To Vent Japan Reactor Halted

Initial plans to vent radioactive gas at the damaged Japanese Fukushima nuclear reactor Sunday have now been canceled. Operator of the facility said it was not necessary since the pressure has stabilized. The news comes as a safety official said that iodine pills should have been given out days ago to those who live near the plant to reduce the chances of getting thyroid cancer from the radiation. Earlier, officials said that high levels of radiation were found in some food products—including milk and spinach, BBC News reported. Also, some positive news have been reported as two survivors were found and rescued from the rubble.
