Obama Visits Saudi Arabia to Mend Frayed Ties

President Barack Obama arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday for a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah in an effort to warm relations with America's key Middle East ally, NBC News reported. Obama is scheduled to have dinner at the king’s desert camp and is expected to reassure Arab allies that, despite troop withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan, greater energy independence back home and nuclear talks with Iran, the U.S. is not abandoning the Arab world. The visit was the final stop in a jam-packed five-day itinerary that has already taken the president around Europe, including his first meeting with Pope Francis.
