NATO Airstrike Kills Civilians in Afghanistan

Coalition forces today said that a NATO airstrike accidentally killed and injured civilians while targeting Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan. A provincial governor said that seven were killed in the incident, which happened last night in the Helmand province during an airstrike on what was thought to be two vehicles carrying a Taliban leader and his colleagues. BBC News reported that troops found civilians instead at the scene. It follows a previous NATO airstrike earlier this month that killed nine people in another province.
