Kara DioGuardi: I Was Molested, Date Raped

Kara DioGuardi was molested at age 11 and later date raped by “fairly known” music producer, she reportedly reveals in a soon-to-be released memoir.

The Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer and ex-“American Idol” judge writes in “A Helluva High Note” that the teenage son of a family friend used to molest her repeatedly, according to E! News.

"I remember freezing and not knowing what to do," DioGuardi writes of one incident that occurred in the back shed of the family friend’s home, according to excerpt of her tome obtained by E!

DioGuardi also reportedly details later being sexually harassed by a “hugely successful artist” and having been date raped in 2000 by a producer she’d gone to dinner with.

"[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand," she writes of the attack, according to E!

DioGuardi remained silent about the rape because she was worried the producer could torpedo her career, E! reported.

DioGuardi also addresses her abrupt exit from “Idol” last year after two years with the Fox hit, reportedly writing that she asked to be cut loose from her contract to help her chances at getting pregnant.

"I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV," she writes, according to E! "I had undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9."

Nearly two months after DioGuardi left “Idol,” she announced she’d inked a deal to star as head judge on a Bravo reality competition for aspiring songwriters. “Platinum Hit” debuts on May 30.

“A Helluva High Note” hits shelves April 26.
