“Hangover II” Sets Global R-Rated Comedy Record

The Wolf Pack is making more than trouble -- they're making serious money. The worldwide box office total of "The Hangover Part II" grew to $488.7 million this weekend, making it the world's highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

We'll take this as confirmation that a major portion of the world is interested in face tattoos, phantom fingers and transgender prostitutes.

The Warner Bros.' flick has earned $256 million overseas and $232.7 million domestically, according to The Wrap. Internationally, it has been most popular in the United Kingdom ($48 million), Germany ($31.5 million) and Australia ($30.4), according to Hollywood Reporter.

And the international hangover isn't over yet; the film has yet to open in Spain and Japan, Hollywood Reporter wrote.

The first "Hangover" held the previous record for top-earning R-rated comedy, making $467.5 million worldwide.

"Avatar" holds the record for highest global grosses regardless of MPAA rating. The blue man story earned more than $2.78 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.
