Blue Ivy Carter Photos Finally Arrive

Jay-Z and Beyonce appear to have created a Tumblr account with pictures of their new daughter

It's the moment most of America (and probably the rest of the pop-culture consuming world) has been waiting for: Photos of Jay-Z and Beyonce's Blue Ivy Carter have arrived.

It appears that the proud parents created a Tumblr account called "hello blue ivy carter" to share the much-anticipated photos with the world. The photos also appear on the hip-hop icon's website, Life + Times.

The Tumblr currently features five photos and a handwritten note: "We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives." It's signed "the Carter family."

Though the one-month-old has already made it onto the Billboard charts, she had been carefully concealed from paparazzi.

Intrepid Photoshop users took a stab at creating images of the newborn, but thankfully, she bears no resemblance to the fakes. (E! Online rounded up the best of the worst.)

In one photo the tiny bundle, born January 8 at "a healthy 7 lbs," looks up at her mom, who beams with her newborn in her arms. Another shows Blue Ivy's tiny fingers touching her mother's (note Beyonce's blue nails).

The most coveted photo may be the final snap that shows Blue Ivy nestled in the "Hard Knock Life" rapper's chest—barely visible underneath a smiling Jay-Z's hands.

Since Blue Ivy's birth (which sparked a brouhaha over allegations that hospital staff were snubbing their non-celebrity patients) Beyonce has made just one public appearance. She posed for cameras four days ago at an event to support her husband's charity.

Their decision to keep a low profile around Blue Ivy's birth and forego huge magazine payouts for photo rights is unique for such a high-profile pair. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie—Jay-Z and Beyonce's Hollywood equivalent—are believed to have broken sales records when they sold photos of their daughter Shiloh to People Magazine in 2006. A number of publications indicated the couple made $4.1 million off the deal, though People disputed that figure, according to The New York Times.

Opting out of such an offer isn't unusual, however, for Beyonce and Jay-Z. The famously private couple resisted confirming their 2008 wedding for months and refused to sell photos of their ceremony to the press.

"It's so not worth it," the "Destiny's Child" singer told Access Hollywood following her wedding four years ago. "If anything, if you wanna put something out, then put it out, not for (money)."
