Mark Cuban Hopes Lakers β€œSuck Forever”

The Dallas Mavericks owner may have crushed the hearts of Laker fans, but he was careful not to step on Kobe Bryant's toes

What does Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban think about the struggling Los Angeles Lakers franchise? He wants it to stay that way - forever.

In a radio interview with NBC4's Fred Roggin on The Beast 980, Cuban shared his thoughts about several topics in the world of sports, including the competitive balance in the NBA.

Asked if the deep-pocket Lakers, who were 1-9 before the start of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, should change their strategy to acquiring marquee players, Cuban had this to say:

"As far as the Lakers, I think there's going to be a lot of teams that are going to be focusing and saying, 'Look, I've got a ton of cap room. Free agent A, B and C, why don't you guys come together and come play for me?' LA has always been considered a destination, so maybe they feel that's a valid strategy. I don't know. But you know me, Fred. Personally, I just hope they suck forever."

Cuban may have crushed the hearts of Laker fans, but he was careful not to step on Kobe Bryant's toes.

Citing the advancement of medical science and the benefits of diets, Cuban said he thinks the aging franchise player is "young" at 36.

"Even though Kobe's got a lot of mileage on his body, he's not what we would consider old anymore," Cuban said. "Kobe is still going to be a beast because he's just got that mental fortitude and that desire to win."
